What you are actually buying
A site made for your business, not a theme with your logo dropped in. Words written for you. Photos shrunk so the page loads on one bar of signal, not just on your home broadband. And the groundwork Google looks for: page titles, headings, schema, a sitemap, canonical tags, Google Analytics and Search Console. That is done while the site is built. It is not sold back to you later as SEO.
Hosting, SSL, weekly backups and support are in the same plan as the build. That is on purpose. The usual set-up is a designer, a separate host and an SEO freelancer. Small problems then sit for weeks, because each of the three can blame the other two.

That gets you a custom site with as many pages as you need, with hosting, SSL and weekly backups. Starter is £60 a month. Those are plan prices, not starting-from guesses. What moves the number is scope: how many pages, whether you sell online, and whether the words and photos come from you or from us. Anything bigger than a plan covers gets a fixed quote before any work starts.

Why not Wix, Squarespace or a theme
For a hobby site or a one-page holding page, they are fine, and we will say so. The trouble starts when the business outgrows them. They carry the weight of every feature you do not use, so they load slowly. They limit what you can change. And your rivals are probably on the same few themes, so you end up looking just like them.
Here is a simple test. Can you add the thing your business needs, like a booking system, a stock list or a quote calculator, without starting again? On a custom site, yes. On a template, you go hunting for a plugin that nearly does it.
Local beats national for almost every small business
Most small businesses waste money chasing broad terms. Words like "web design", "plumber" and "accountant" are fought over by national firms spending thousands a month on ads. Being on page nine for those earns nothing. What earns is your service plus your town, and a Google Business Profile that is properly filled in. For local searches, the map listings usually sit above everything else.
That is decided before anything is designed. Getting it wrong is the most common reason a good-looking site never ranks. So we set up your Business Profile as part of the build, not as an extra.
You might not need a new website
Sometimes the site is fine and one thing is broken. A noindex tag left on after a rebuild. A contact form sending to a dead mailbox. Photos four times bigger than they need to be. No schema at all. Those are an afternoon's work, not a project, and we would rather tell you than sell you a rebuild. How much does a small business website cost in the UK?

Do I have to pay for the whole site upfront?
No. That is the point of the monthly plan. The cost of the build is spread across the plan, along with hosting and support, so there is no big bill before the site exists. If you would rather pay once a year, every plan has a yearly option that works out at two months free.
Do you use templates or page builders?
No. Every site is built from scratch around the business. That is why the pages are fast, why we can build the thing your business needs, and why you do not look the same as three rivals who bought the same theme.
How long does a small business website take to build?
Two to four weeks for most small business sites, from the first chat to going live. The build is rarely the slow part. What decides it is how fast the words, photos and product details come back. If all of that is ready on day one, it can be live inside a fortnight.
Do you only work with businesses near you?
Most clients are in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, because that is where the word of mouth runs. But every client for six years has been worked with remotely. The chat, the design review, changes, launch and support all happen by phone and email. A client twenty minutes away and one in Cornwall get the same service.
Do I own the website?
The site is licensed to you while you are on a plan, and Dalton Digital keeps the source code. That is what lets the price be monthly instead of thousands upfront. If you want to own it outright, you can buy it out. The price is twelve months of your plan fees, and it is all set out in the terms and conditions.
What if I already have a website?
Then the first question is whether it needs replacing or fixing. Those are very different bills. Plenty of sites are sound and just badly set up. Will it actually rank on Google?
It is built to. Titles, headings, schema, speed and your Google Business Profile all point at the right searches from the start. What nobody honest can promise is a position. Anyone promising page one in a fortnight is selling something. Ranking for what you do in the towns you work in is a fight you can win. Ranking across the country for a two-word term usually is not.
